A small change on 2026 W-2s will drive a lot of questions this season. For the first time, employers report qualified tips and overtime separately. That matters because both now come with a deduction, for tax years 2025 through 2028: - Tips: up to $25,000, for jobs where tips are customary - Overtime: up to $12,500 of the overtime premium ($25,000 joint) - Both phase out above $150,000 of modified AGI ($300,000 joint) If you work in hospitality, healthcare, trades or retail, bring your W-2 and last pay stub to your appointment and we’ll check whether you qualify.
